3 Reasons Why You Need Pinterest in Your Business

3 Reasons Why You Need Pinterest in Your Business(4).png

I probably don’t have to convince you that Pinterest is ah-mazing!

There’s so many things that Pinterest allows you to do! Don’t feel like doing the dishes? Look at pictures of immaculately clean kitchens instead! Don’t know what to cook for dinner? That’s easy, search for quick dinners and Pinterest will provide you with some quick dinner ideas. There are thousands of DIYs out there to get you started!

It’s easy to get sucked in and then realize that you’ve spent all afternoon scrolling through those beautiful images. And you’re not the only one! Pinterest has over 150 million active users. 80% of those users are women and 87% of them have purchased a product because they saw it on Pinterest.

From pretty pins to boards upon boards of ideas, it’s no wonder this visual search engine is one of the most popular social media sites! Having a killer Pinterest strategy can result in incredible traffic to your website.

With that in mind, I’ve  come up with the top 3 reasons why Pinterest is an absolute must for all you creative entrepreneurs and bloggers out there, trying to drive traffic to your website, and your business.

Visual Search Engine

I can’t really call Pinterest “just” a social media platform because it’s so much more than that. It’s a visual search engine. And we all love search engines, right? Most of us are always quick to whip out our phones to ask Google whatever questions pop into our mind or conversations. I don’t know about you, but Google has straightened out  a few minor disagreements for me.

Pinterest is no different. Granted, I typically don't go to Pinterest when I'm trying to settle a little factoid disagreement, but I often find myself hopping on Pinterest to find ideas on how to solve a problem. That problem may be, figuring out what's for dinner, or how to organize my sock drawer, but it's solving something that would be kind of difficult to do without images to help me along. And I’m not alone, each day, millions of users across the globe head to Pinterest to have their questions answered and their sock drawers organized.

Plus, results from Pinterest often show up in Google searches. So if you've got your Pinterest strategy and Pinterest SEO down, then you've also helped yourself show up in Google searches. Win-win.

Those sock drawer organizers, want to find creative, exciting, and new ways to solve their problems. Perhaps you could help them. With a strategy in place, you can be the answer at the end of that search.

Pinners=Buyers

Remember all those sock drawer organizers? Yup, not only do they want their sock drawers organized, but they're ready to purchase solutions to those messy sock drawers.

It's been proven that a large portion of Pinterest users, are using Pinterest to research purchasing decisions before they buy. 87% of pinners have purchased a product or service because of Pinterest.

Pinners are coming to the platform to research before they buy, what if they came across your awesomeness and your awesome product while doing all of this research. If you made yourself easy for them to find, and enticed them with your sparkly, keyword rich Pinterest profile, you'd be attracting them to your offerings.

Pinterest Drives Traffic

Pinterest is a HUGE driver of traffic, so much so, it's neck and neck with Facebook when it comes to bringing traffic to your site. According to Mashable:

“When it comes to referral traffic from social networks, there’s Facebook and Pinterest – and then there’s everyone else”.

So, it's probably safe to say, that a presence on Pinterest is definitely worth your time. Think about all those new clients, readers, and purchasers of your products and services that are just waiting to discover how awesome you are!

Pins Preserve Well

The average lifespan of a Pin is 4 months. That means that you've got the potential for traffic to your site for 4 months, just from one Pin that you've linked to your content.  Think about it, a post on Facebook or Twitter is gone in less than 24 hours. And if your target audience missed that post, or even that paid Facebook ad, then you've missed your chance unless you re-post.

But a Pin can bring in traffic for months, and even years if it's still up to date. That's a lot of power behind one little pin. And it's perfect for busy entrepreneurs, or lazy people (I'm preaching to myself here), because there's minimal effort involved on your end.

It’s Social

While it may not be social in the same ways that Facebook and Twitter are, Pinterest is still a social network. You get opportunities to connect each day with other pinners! By using group boards and the comment feature, you can find other businesses and blogs and start building professional and customer connections.

Boosting Blogs

Use Pinterest to your advantage. It can be a goldmine for boosting traffic to your website and products if you’re using it strategically! Make sure every post you write has a Pinterest-optimized graphic that will draw users in and make them want to click through to your site.
